Fall is finally here. Whether you checked out new businesses, fed yourself with Southlake’s favorite food or kept up with the Southlake Carroll Dragons, September saw a lot of major success stories.
1. Chicken N Pickle Coming To Southlake
Last week, Grapevine announced that a new restaurant and sports bar will be coming to the city by 2022. Chicken N Pickle is a Kansas-based food franchise that features pickleball courts and yard games at its restaurants, according to a press release. With Grapevine marking its third location in Texas, residents are excited to dine on Chicken N Pickle’s delicious comfort food while playing their favorite games at the same time.
2. Southlake Oktoberfest 2021 Dates Announced
Southlake residents are excited that Southlake Oktoberfest 2021 is right around the corner. From Oct. 15 to 17, attendees will fill Southlake Town Square to enjoy the best German food, beverages and live festivities around, including a performance from the ‘80s-themed band The Molly Ringwalds. “Everybody’s been cooped up the last year, and they’re ready to get out and do stuff,” Southlake Chamber President Mark Guilbert says. “This will be our best Oktoberfest ever.”
3. 50 Things To Eat In Southlake
Our “50 Things To Eat” feature was easily our most popular story from the September print issue, with over 1,000 page views and 500 shares. In this expansive listicle, we take you through some of Southlake’s most signature dishes, including Duff’s Super Hot Wings, Delucca Gaucho Pizza & Wine’s Elote Pizza, Sushi Dojo’s Sushi Tacos, Peace Love & Little Donuts’ Maple Bacon Donut, Feedstore BBQ’s Burnt Ends and more.
4. BoomerJack’s Opens In Lake Worth
For over 20 years, BoomerJack’s Grill has provided top-notch American classics in 16 restaurants across DFW. Last month, it opened its 17th restaurant at 6800 NW Loop 820 in Fort Worth. The new restaurant features an all-seasons patio, an outdoor container bar, wall-to-wall TVs and live music — and that’s before you even get to the menu, which includes everything from handcrafted burgers to chicken fried steak.
5. The State Of Maryland
The name “Maryland” means a lot to Southlake. Not only does it refer to former Dallas Cowboy, Super Bowl champion and Hall of Famer Russell Maryland, but it also refers to his son RJ, who is giving it his all in his last year with Dragon Football. In this Dragon Pride feature, we take a look at the story of the Marylands and how these two powerhouse players came to call Southlake home.
