Inevitably every year inbrDecember I'm asked, "I bet you can't wait for those New Year's resolutions?"brEvery year my reply is the same: "We don't get that here." My logicbrrests in our successes with athletes, fitness competitors or those who wantbrbetter health and vigor in their daily life. If you're going to be successfulbrin fitness, it's not because of New Years. So I'll share three suggestions tobrmake your resolution more effective.
First, if you visit mostbrany fitness center or gym, the people in the best shape with the most athleticbrphysiques are lifting weights. There is no use in trying to reinvent the wheelbrwhen there is something that is already rolling, which is resistance trainingbrin fitness. There is no workout, not aerobic, not cardiovascular, not evenbrhigh-temperature yoga classes that will consistently yield the caloriebrexpenditure of an appropriately applied resistance training program. The reasonbris due to the unending variation or combination of exercises that generatebrmuscle soreness, which in turn increases metabolism in recuperation. Rememberbrthe SAID Principle? Specific adaption to applied demand; it's what we do whenbrchallenged. Through resistance training, we can continue to create ways tobrstimulate increased fitness.
Second, not you, not mebr(or at least most of us over 35), can out run a bad diet, even with exercise.brJust as in my first suggestion where we are trying to create calorie expenditure, brhere we are looking at ways to limit calorie intake. At the end of the day, ifbryou are not addressing this very situation you probably are not going tobrachieve the goals you have set for yourself. It's all about calories in vs.brcalories out. Nutrition can make or break your program.
Third, it's okay to have abrshort-term goal. Something in the three- to six-month range is good, but thatbris not where it ends. All those buffed models that we see in fitness magazinesbror on television and in movies, those people are way past the 3-6 month range.brIf you really want to change anything it will absolutely take commitment. Itbrwill be a lifestyle change that must continue because Rome was not built in abrday, after all.
It doesn't matter whatbryour goal is, weight loss, healthier lifestyle or better performance on thebrfield, courts or pitch, we can help you at Impact Performance & Fitness.brIt's like no place else in the fitness universe! Call 817.416.3838 to schedulebra visit today.
